Let me start the Fifty Shades of Red Project with my very favourite of all times lipstick – Ruby Woo.
Ruby Woo is more than a lipstick, it is an entire episode in my life. With this specific lipstick I opened the Pandora Box of the beauty addiction and a completely new Adventure in my life.
Everything started back in 2010 when I joined Emirates Airline as a flight attendant. First thing that comes to your mind when you think about cabin crew is theirs glamorous look and glamorous lifestyle probably(well I won’t dissipate the other side of the coin in this post). The very rigorous company’s grooming standard fitted me like a glove in the very first moment. Even thought I knew nothing about makeup at that time. Red lips and red nails were to be wear at all times when on duty. That is the moment when my schooling about all kind of Red shades for lips and nails started. It has to be more that fifty shades of red I have been worn in the last 5-7 years. Call me Red Lipstick connoisseur if you want 🙂 🙂 🙂 In all these years (and you have to give more trust here) I never had any other lipstick better than Ruby Woo by Mac. Is the most long lasting matte lipstick at all times. On an ultra-long flight such as Dubai – Los Angeles (16 hrs) at 40 thousands feet altitude (in pressurised cabin) I have to replenish the lipstick only if I had a meal. That long this lipstick last. As a grown lady you know that there is no perfection without a glitch. The Ruby Woo dries and tights the lips though. When I met Karen Buglisi Weiler, Global Brand President of MAC Cosmetics at Dubai Fashion Talks(2015) I told her that I am in love with Ruby Woo, the only savior on a haul flights but if they can consider to make a version of it that won’t dry so much, she kindly (like a mommy) replayed that in this case it won’t last so long. She was right. What was important for me, for the specific of job I was doing and the look I wanted to achieve the dryness was just a little price to pay. Not a bit I had to search – the solution was just in front of my important nose. The Lip Primer (from Mac)! Solved my demand at once without compromising the pigment or colour. The colour is very matte, in some of the pictures below you’ll see it slightly different as the flash light went all on my lips.
